Abuja, 18 Aug : A Nigerian helicopter carrying dead and wounded soldiers from an evacuation mission in Niger crashed on Monday. At least 24 Nigerian Security personnel were killed.
A spokesperson of Nigerian Military Major General Edward Buba confirmed the figures during a press briefing in Abuja on Thursday. There were 14 soldiers and seven wounded ones, along with two pilots and two crew members aboard the helicopter that crashed, Al Jazeera reported quoting Buba. Investigation into the cause of the accident is in progress.
The local news outlets have reported that the helicopter was evacuating the bodies of security operatives killed by bandits before crashing in Chukuba.
