Honolulu, 11 Aug : At least 53 people died in a forest fire in Hawaii province in USA. The fire broke out in the forest of Lahaina island. The initial figure for the loss of 17 lives have risen to 53. The rescue operations are in progress.
More than 14,000 people from Maui Island have been shifted, according to local media reports. About 11,000 people in Lahaina are facing power cuts. US President Joe Biden has announced an emergency in the region.
Six fires are burning on Maui and the Big Island. Officials reported that about 80 percent of the fire is now contained.
