Patna, 9 February : The biggest sports talent search competition will start on Thursday here. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar will inaugurate the National Inter-District Junior Athletics Meet (NIDJAM) here on Thursday at 4 pm. This competition will be held from February 9 to 12 at the Patliputra Sports Complex in Kankarbagh. More than 6,000 athletes will take part in the competition.
Bihar State Sports Authority Director General Ravindran Sankaran said that NIDJAM is being organised for the first time in Bihar. More than 6,000 athletes from 600 districts from all over the country will participate in this competition. Apart from this, 1,023 coaches and managers of all the teams across the country will take part in the competition.
About 520 selected players from 38 districts and two police districts of Bihar are participating in this talent hunt competition. NIDJAM aims to select talented players from every corner of the country at a young age and groom them like a champion for international competition. He said that among all the events of NIDJAM held so far, the event to be held in Bihar is the biggest.
It is a matter of pride for NIDJAM that for the first time, all the events are being held on a synthetic track. Along with this, the results will be declared through electronic machines on the basis of international standards. Art Culture and Youth Department Secretary Vandana Preyshi said that the aim is to ensure the participation of Bihar players in the national team participating in every game in the 2028 Olympics.
