Beijing/Pyongyang, 28 Aug : The restrictions imposed during the Covid-19 pandemic have been withdrawn by China and North Korea. Those visiting China will not be required to undertake a Covid test. North Korean citizens living abroad will be able to return to their motherland.
Chinese Foreign Affairs Ministry Spokesperson Wang Wenbin informed the media that those reaching China from Wednesday will not be required to undertake a Covid test. This is a major step toward total withdrawal of restrictions imposed in the beginning of 2020. The visitors were quarantined in hotels.
China will start issuing visas in all the categories from Wednesday. The visa-free entry into certain areas, which was available before the pandemic, will also be restored.
North Korea announced that its citizens stranded abroad will be able to return. They will be quarantined for a week under the supervision of proper health providers. Most of the North Korean citizens were stranded in China and Russia.
