Five Ireland squads announced for historic tours of Bangladesh, Sri Lanka

Dublin, 10 February : Cricket Ireland has announced five squads for the historic tours of Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. After playing in all three formats in Bangladesh, Andy Balbirnie’s men will head to Sri Lanka for two more Test matches.

Peter Moore, the former Zimbabwe international wicket-keeper batsman, has been selected for both the Test squads. Moore has previous experience of playing in Bangladesh, having scored 63 not out and 83 during the tour there in November 2018. Wicket-keeper batsman Lorcan Tucker, who was impressive in last year’s T20 World Cup, has also been included in all five teams.

In a statement issued by Cricket Ireland, head coach Henrik Malan said, We are not going to try to play like anyone else, we will play our way and that is the important message for us at the moment. We want our players to Go out and find out how we play well in Tests.

Ireland will play three ODIs, three T20 Internationals and a Test match on their first-ever full tour of Bangladesh. Ireland will play a warm-up match on March 15, followed by three One Day Internationals, three T20 Internationals and a Test match. This will be the first Test match played between the two sides.

After this, the Ireland team will play a Test match and two Day Internationals on the second tour of Sri Lanka. The team will leave Dublin on 11 March.
