New Delhi, 01 September : The central government has constituted a committee under the chairmanship of former President Ramnath Kovind to implement the idea of one country, one election.

Bharatiya Janata Party President JP Nadda met former President Ramnath Kovind at his residence on Friday.

According to sources, this committee formed on the issue of One Country, One Election will give its recommendation on bringing a bill in this regard. Earlier, the Standing Committee of Parliament, Law Commission, and NITI Aayog considered this and gave their reports.

Speaking to reporters, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Prahlad Joshi said that only one committee has been formed so far. Why worry about it now? He said that the committee would submit its recommendation. It will be put up for public consideration. If possible, the Parliament will consider this. Till 1967, elections to the Legislative Assembly and the Lok Sabha were held simultaneously in the country. This also saves resources, and governments also get the opportunity to reduce waste properly.

It is noteworthy that the Central Government has called a special session of Parliament from September 18 to September 22. Its agenda has not yet been clarified by the government.

When asked about the agenda of the special session, Prahlad Joshi told reporters that the situation would be clarified in the next three or four days. Right now, work is going on.
