Tokyo, 11 Aug : Hokkaido in Japan was struck by an earthquake, the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GSZ) reported on Friday. The intensity of the earthquake was measured at 6.0 on the Richter Scale.
According to the local media, the epicentre of the quake was 46 Km below the earth’s surface. GFZ has also reported that heavy rains lashed the South-West and Western regions of Japan due to the Khanun storm. The storm has advanced further leaving Japan’s Abino Miyazaki region flooded. The storm has caused heavy damage and the traffic in the region has come to a standstill.
Shikoku and Kyushu islands received heavy rains overnight. During this month the islands received about 1,000 mm rain.
