Gwalior, 3 February : Dronacharya awardee and former Indian national gymnastics coach Bishweshwar Nandi is on the lookout for another girl who is capable of making the country proud in the international arena for the Khelo India Youth Games 2022 in Gwalior. Khelo India Youth Games 2022 Gymnastics of Madhya Pradesh is being organized at Laxmibai National Institute of Physical Education in Gwalior city and has started on 1 February 2022.
Nandi said, I am looking for another Deepa. I have seen some bright talented youth who can do wonders if they are on the right path.
Nandi said he had chosen Pratishtha Samant, a former Khelo India Youth Games gold medalist in the all-around artistic gymnastics event, and a young girl from Howrah’s Santragachi. The girl went to Agartala to practice under Nandi.
The veteran coach said, But she needs to work hard. She has talent and can achieve more than Deepa. I am looking for some other young talents here in Gwalior.
Nandi praised the sports event. “The Khelo India project is a great exposure for young athletes as it gives them a great platform and creates a mindset in the youth which helps them to improve and compete in international competitions later on,” he added.
In recent years, Khelo India has produced several elite athletes who have represented the country at the international level. He also appreciated the management and selectors for keeping the selection process completely transparent.
He added, “We have the coaches of each sports association select the names of their top young athletes and directly send the names to the management who then select the players as per the criteria. They also cover the expenses of the coaches and athletes throughout the competition. Take care.
