New Delhi, 27 Aug : Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Sunday that India has made the G20 meeting more inclusive under its chairmanship, citing the 55-member African union as an example. On December 1, 2022, India took the G20 leadership from Indonesia. During the 104th episode of his monthly radio show Mann ki Baat, Prime Minister Narendra Modi asked everyone to help make the G20 meeting in Delhi a success and to bring glory to the country. He stated that India is ready to host the G20 Leaders’ Summit next month in Delhi.
The month of September will see India’s potential. The G20 Leaders’ Summit is completely prepared for us. This gathering will bring together the leaders of 40 countries and other worldwide organizations in Delhi. This will be the largest participation in the history of the G20 summit, remarked Prime Minister Modi.
The Prime Minister referred to India’s G20 leadership as a people’s presidency in which the spirit of public involvement was vital and at the forefront. He emphasized the involvement of women, entrepreneurs, lawmakers, youth, civil society organizations, and city officials. He stated that two world records were set in the process of increasing public engagement. PM Modi cited the participation of 1.25 lakh children from 800 schools in the G20 quiz in Varanasi as a global record. At the same time, 450 Lambani artisans showcased their skills and craftsmanship by creating an amazing collection of around 1,800 unique patches, he continued.
PM Modi stated that over 200 G20-related events were organized in 60 places across the country, breaking with the norm of having such events in major cities. Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, South Korea, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Turkey, the United Kingdom, the United States, and the European union compose the G20. The group is responsible for more than 80% of global GDP, 75% of global commerce, and 60% of worldwide population.
