London, 9 February : Glamorgan all-rounder James Harris has been re-elected as the President of the Professional Cricketers’ Association (PCA). His tenure will be of two years.
James Harris of Glamorgan has been re-elected as President of the Professional Cricketers’ Association for a term of office until February 2025, the PCA said in a statement on Wednesday.
Initially appointed as the PCA representative for Middlesex in 2017, Harris quickly established herself as a leading voice on the players’ committee and three years later, she was one of the PCA’s first vice presidents alongside England captain Heather Knight. Became one.
Backed by Knight and the Derbyshire all-rounder squad, Harris was elected as the 15th president after Daryl Mitchell, who leads the association in 2021, completes his maximum four-year term.
With Harris’ term coming to an end at the PCA’s AGM on Tuesday 28 February, an independent election process from the end of 2022 resulted in the current players re-appointing the former England Lions pacer.
