Bhopal, 7 February : Madhya Pradesh has won two gold medals in the ongoing canoe slalom competition at Sahasradhara in Maheshwar. In the boys’ category, Pradyuman Singh Rathore of Indore won the gold with a stellar performance in the K2 event, while in the girls’ C2 event, Mansi Batham of MP won the gold. However, in Kabaddi, the daughters of MP got a crushing defeat. Weightlifting competitions also started in Indore from today, in which many National Youth and Youth Games records were made in different weight categories.
For the first time in the Khelo India Youth Games, Pradyuman Singh Rathore won the boys’ K2 event in the canoe or water slalom event. The student of Emerald International School clocked 76.850 seconds to complete the 300m course built in the lap of river Narmada in Maheshwar, while second-placed Princegen Kurbah of Meghalaya clocked 98.310 seconds. Anak Chauhan of Gujarat got the third position. Anak completed the race in 104.030 seconds.
Similarly Mansi Batham of Madhya Pradesh won the Canoe Slalom C2 event for girls. Took 128.596 seconds to complete the race on the 250 meter course from Mansi. Preeti Pal (Haryana) was far behind with a timing of 491.172 seconds while Dhriti Maria (Karnataka) was third in 559.120 seconds.
Weight lifting
Dhanush L. of Tamil Nadu won the 49 kg gold in the boys’ category in the ongoing weightlifting event at the Basketball Arena in Indore. Won with National Youth Record. Dhanush lifted a total of 192 kg, which is also a new Youth Games record in this weight category, while in clean and jerk, he lifted 108 kg, which is a new national youth record.
Similarly, in the boys’ 55 kg category, Andhra Pradesh’s S. Guru Naidu won the gold with 227kg. Naidu lifted 103 kg in snatch and 124 kg in clean and jerk. Rajat Manipul’s N. Tomchow met Meitei. Meetei lifted a total of 227 kg. This includes 102 kg in snatch while 125 kg in clean and jerk. The bronze went to Vijay Prajavati (total 214 kg – snatch 95, clean and jerk 119 kg) of Madhya Pradesh.
Vinatai Aher (Maharashtra), daughter of a farmer from Nashik, won the women’s weightlifting 40 kg title. Vinatai lifted a total of 129 kg. Vinatai lifted 57 kg in snatch and 72 kg in clean and jerk to win the Youth Games record.
In the girls’ 45kg category, Akanksha Vyavahe (Maharashtra) won the first position with a total of 144kg (snatch 67kg, clean and jerk 80kg). Akanksha made youth national record. Asmita Dhone finished second with a total of 143kg (snatch 61kg, clean and jerk 82kg) and Anjali Patel (UP) finished third with a total of 142kg (snatch 63kg, clean and jerk 79kg).
Kabaddi
Haryana defeated hosts Madhya Pradesh 55-22 in the girls’ category in the ongoing Kabaddi matches at Abhay Prashal, Indore. Similarly, in the girls’ category itself, Bihar won the Group B competition. Beat Bengal 39-27. Similarly in this category, Maharashtra defeated Telangana 64-16 in Group-A match. In the boys’ section, Rajasthan beat Maharashtra 28-27 in their Group A match while Haryana beat Delhi 42-37 in their Group B match.
Men’s football
Meghalaya boys beat Karnataka 2-1 in ongoing football at Emerald International School while P. Bengal beat Odisha 3-2.
Tennis
Meanwhile, in the first round of boys’ singles at Indore Tennis Club, Aryan Shah (1) (Gujarat) defeated Aryan Arora (Punjab) 6-0, 6-2 while Gagan Rakesh Vimal (Tamil Nadu) beat Vedant Mehta (Delhi) 6-0, 6-2. ) by 6-0, 6-1. Similarly, Jason Michael David (Karnataka) defeated Deepam Malik (Delhi) 6-2, 6-3. In another match, Pranav Karthik (Tamil Nadu) beat Riyan Sharma (Delhi) 6-2,6-3 while Skanda Prasanna Rao (Karnataka) upset Rethin Pranav RS (3) (Tamil Nadu) 2-6,6-3. Defeated 6-2, 6-4. In the girls’ singles, Tejashwi Dabas (Delhi) was given a walkover by Vaishnavi Adkar (1) (Maharashtra) while Angel Prakash Patel (Daman and Diu) beat Sasha Kharbuli 6-0, 6-0. Similarly, Spatil (4) (Maharashtra) was given a walkover by Sanjana Sirimela (Telangana) while P Lakshmi (Tamil Nadu) defeated Anya Choubey (Madhya Pradesh) 5-7, 6-3, 7-6. Asmi Nihar Adkar (Maharashtra) defeated Sohini S.S. Mohanty 3-6,6-2,6-1 while Madhurima Sawant (3) (Maharashtra) beat Lakshmi Gowda (Delhi) 6-1,6-2. In another match, Ruma Ashutosh (Maharashtra) defeated Suryanshi Tanwar (Haryana) 6-1,4-6,6-1 while Suhita Maruri (2) (Karnataka) beat Hannah Nagpal (Uttar Pradesh) 6-2, Beaten 6-0.
