Maharashtra begs 4 gold medals in Yogasana, also got gold in track cycling

Bhopal, 3 February : On the fourth competitive day of the Khelo India Youth Games, Maharashtra won five gold medals on Thursday. Maharashtra got four gold in Yogasana held at Ujjain while one gold was won in the track cycling event held at Delhi’s Velodrome.

Pooja Danole of Maharashtra won the gold in the girls’ 7.5 km scotch race, while Himanshi Singh of Haryana won the silver. Bronze was won by Agexa N Thomas of Kerala. Haryana’s Neeraj Kumar won the gold while Delhi’s Akshar Tyagi won the silver and Maharashtra’s Om Babasaheb Karande won the bronze in the ongoing track cycling 10 km scratch race in Delhi.

In the rhythmic pair, Trupti Dongre and Devanshi Wakale (Maharashtra) won the gold, while their own state’s Swara Gujar and Pranjal Vahana won the silver. Dhanashree and Ovaiya (Tamil Nadu) got bronze. Among the boys, Rajdeep Dalal and Rajeshwar Dalal (Bengal) won gold while Ansh and Nanak Narayan (Maharashtra) got silver. Rupesh Sangle and Sumit Bandale (Maharashtra) got it.

Trupti Dongre and Devanshi Wakale (Maharashtra) won the fourth gold in Yogasana in Rhythmic pair. While Swara Gujar and Pranjal Vahana of their own state got silver. Among the boys, Ansh and Nanak Narayan (Maharashtra) got silver while Rupesh Sangle and Sumit Bandale (Maharashtra) got bronze.

In Delhi, the boys’ time trial final (1000km) was won by Luv Kumar Yadav (Rajasthan) while Sampath Passemel (Karnataka) won the silver. Mahendra Bishnoi (Rajasthan) got the bronze. Similarly, the girls’ time trial final (500 km) was won by Sandhya Venkatesh (Maharashtra) while Santi Biswas (West Bengal) got the silver. Bimla Machera (Rajasthan) got the third position.

West Bengal’s Ankur Bhattacharjee will take on Uttar Pradesh’s Divyansh Srivastava in the boys’ final tomorrow in the table tennis event at Abhay Prashal, Indore. In the semi-finals, No. 2 seeded Ankur and top-seeded Divyansh registered identical 4-0 wins over their rivals – Delhi’s Adarsh Om Chhetri and Maharashtra’s Jash Modi. Maharashtra’s Tanisha Kotecha will take on Delhi’s Lakshita Narang in the girls’ final after a 4-3 win over Prithoki Chakraborty, who thrashed Yashaswini Ghorpade 4-0 in the youth girls’ semi-final.

Madhya Pradesh’s Gatka team defeated Haryana 135-47 in the second round of the Girls’ Phari Sotti team event. The MP team scored 135 points while the Haryana team could manage only 47 points.

On the other hand, in the basketball group match at Indore’s Basketball Complex, the women’s team of Madhya Pradesh defeated Kerala by 87-68 while the men’s team also won. The men beat Karnataka 68-61 to enter the semi-finals. The women’s team has also reached the semi-finals.

Khushi Pal Singh scored 26 points while Ananya Maheshwari scored 23 points for the MP women’s team. Mona Goswami contributed 14 points and captain Osin Singh contributed 13 points. MP women will face Chhattisgarh in the semi-finals.

On the other hand, Raja Mangraj played a key role in the men’s team’s victory in the Group I match. Raja scored the highest 22 points. MP will face Tamil Nadu in the semi-finals on February 3. The finals will be held on February 4.
