Latehar, 21 August : In the coal mines operated by the Damodar Valley Project Colliery located near Tubed village in the Sadar police station area of Latehar district, a militant organisation named JLT created a huge production on Sunday night. During this, the thorn house was set on fire. The militants also fired several rounds, besides assaulting the operator, guard, and highway driver present there.

However, later, there was retaliatory firing by the security personnel deployed in other parts of the colliery, and the militants fled from there. The militants have claimed responsibility for the incident by throwing a handwritten pamphlet.

According to the information, the militants had reached near Kanta Ghar at around one o’clock on Sunday night. The number of militants was about nine. The militants first assaulted the security personnel and the drivers standing outside the Kanta Ghar. After this, the militants set the Kanta house on fire by sprinkling petrol. After assaulting the security personnel and the drivers, the militants also resorted to firing to create panic. On the other hand, security personnel deployed in other parts of the colliery also retaliated after getting a clue about the attack by the militants. After this, the militants fled from there. Later, information about the incident was given to senior officials of the management and the police.

After getting information about the incident, the police team, under the leadership of Police Inspector Ashutosh Kumar, reached the spot and investigated the whole matter. During this, information about the entire incident was also taken from the security personnel.

It is said that the incident was carried out due to a matter related to levy recovery. Due to the execution of this type of incident by the militants, an atmosphere of panic has been created in the area.
