The Congress has alleged that the Modi government is diluting the Right to Information Act.
The Congress issued a statement on Friday saying that under RTI, any citizen of the country can seek information from the government about its functioning. Fearing the truth, the Modi government earlier refused to give much information under RTI, and now many important data points have disappeared from the RTI website.
The Congress says that on October 12, 2005, its government brought the right to information to ensure transparency in the government machinery and accountability of the government. At present, the Modi government is not following this law.
Congress is constantly attacking the central government. In the past, the Congress had demanded from the Central Government that the PM Cares Fund be brought under the ambit of RTI and that the government give an account of this money to the country.
