Kathmandu, 09 Sep (HS):- Nepal’s Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) arrested three Customs Officers posted at the airport. The officers are suspected to have facilitated the smuggled gold taking out without checking.

CIB Chief Kiran Vajracharya said the Customs officers posted at Tribhuvan International Airport Pushpa Joshi, Virendra Nepali, and Kamal Pariyar were arrested after a detailed enquiry. During the investigation into the smuggling racket of one quintal of gold, the CIB suspected their involvement in the racket. The CIB arrested them after collecting adequate evidence. The gold was concealed in Brake Shoes and brought to Nepal from Hong Kong in the name of a fake company.

CIB arrested 32 people so far, including 12 Chinese nationals. Two people were arrested in India and taken to Nepal for further investigation. A team of CIB is present in Hong Kong and another in India.
