Omicron found in two persons ; Officers

Ballari, 30 November

Two persons were found positive with the New Omicron coronavirus variant at Hosapete of Vijayanagara District in Karnataka.

Two returned to Bombay Airport on November 26, 2021 from South Africa and travelled to Hosapete. When both came to their hometown, police and revenue department officers traced and sent them in Quarantine, where, on Tuesday, their blood reports confirmed them positive.

As per the Health department officials,both having Omicron were in Quarantine. But, the concerned authorities had not yet confirmed it officially.

However, Dr. L. Janardhan, District Health officer at Ballari, said, `Two South Africa returned persons were under home quarantine, since their arrival. All members of their family were also kept under home quarantine as per media.

Both went to South Africa for employment on a contract basis in November 2020, returned on November 26, 2021.
