Islamabad, 16 Aug : Over a dozen Bills have been referred back by Pakistan’s President Arif Alvi for review by the National Assembly. The future of these Bills is hanging in balance as the National Assembly has been dissolved. The Bills were passed by both houses of the Pakistan Parliament during the term of government led by PML-N.

The Bills passed by the Shahbaz Sharif-led government during the last few days of his term were referred back. The bills include amendments to the Criminal Procedure law and law relating to blasphemy and insult to religious leaders, increasing the tenure of the Higher Education Commission President etc.

The bills will now be considered by the newly elected National Assembly.
