In line with the clarion call for the “Swachh Bharat” initiative, Prime Minister Modi urged countrymen to join and support the nation for a significant event on cleanliness on October 1.
Calling it a national call to action, “Ek Tareekh Ek Ghanta Ek Saath,” PM Modi called on the countrymen to pay homage to Bapu on the eve of his Jayanti by dedicating 1 hour of shramdaan for swachhata at 10 am on 1st October, 2023.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), he said, “On 1st October at 10 AM, we come together for a pivotal cleanliness initiative. A Swachh Bharat is a shared responsibility, and every effort counts. Join this noble endeavor to usher in a cleaner future.”
It is pertinent to note that the Prime Minister first appealed for the nation’s participation in ‘shramdaan for swachhta’ initiative during the 105th episode of Mann Ki Baat. He emphasized that the citizens should collectively take out time and help in this campaign related to cleanliness.
Speaking on Swachhata Hi Sevaabhiyan, he said, “A significant cleanliness event is going to be organized on the 1st of October, i.e., Sunday at 10 am. You too should take out time and help in this campaign related to cleanliness. You can also join this cleanliness campaign in your street, neighborhood…or at a park, river, lake, or any other public place.”
On the margins of the event, reportedly the government has recently also held a meeting with top bureaucrats and officials from the Centre and State to make this first such simultaneous cleanliness drive ‘a big hit.’
