New Delhi, August 25 : The Supreme Court has increased then iterim bail of former Delhi government minister Satyendar Jain while giving relief. A bench headed by Justice AS Bopanna extended the interim bail of Satyendar Jain till September 1. The court will hear Jain’s main bail plea on September 1.

During the hearing, advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi, appearing for Satyendar Jain, said that Jain has undergone spinal surgery and needs rest. Singhvi sought an extension of Jain’s interim bail. The ED opposed Singhvi’s argument that Jain should be ordered to surrender.

His interim bail should not be extended, even for a day. Jain should be treated like a common prisoner.

Earlier, on May 26, the Supreme Court granted interim bail to Satyendar Jain for six weeks. The court had allowed Satyendar Jain to undergo treatment at a private hospital of his choice.

The ED said that the Delhi High Court had rejected ther eport of Loknayak Jaiprakash Hospital. The ED said that bail is granted in money laundering cases only when there is a threat to life from the disease.

The Supreme Court had issued a notice to the ED while hearing the bail plea on May 18. Advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi, appearing for Jain, cited Jain’s ill health and said that Jain had lost 35 kg in weight in jail. The Delhi High Court rejected the bail plea of Satyendar Jain on

April 6. The High Court had said that Satyendar Jain is an influential person, and he has the ability to influence the witnesses. The ED arrested Satyendra Jain on May 30, 2022.
