Ujjain, 30 August : The first rakhi was tied to Baba Mahakal after Bhasma Aarti in the early hours of Wednesday. Like every year, 1.25 lakh laddus were offered as bhog on this occasion. Laddus will be distributed as Prasadi to the devotees visiting the temple.
On the occasion of the Rakshabandhan festival, after Bhasma Aarti at Mahakal temple on Wednesday morning, the priestly family traditionally tied rakhi to Baba Mahakal. The doors of the temple opened at 2:30 in the morning, and Baba’s Jalabhishek, Panchamrit Abhishek, and worship were completed. After this, Rakhi was tied to Baba Mahakal in the early hours. Dilip Guru said that eight women of the priest’s family tied rakhi, which was made of silk, soft cloth, and jewellery. The size of this rakhi was 2 feet. It was ready in about 10 days.
Baba Mahakal was offered 1.25 lakh laddus as per tradition on the Rakshabandhan festival on Wednesday morning. After offering bhog, prasadi will be distributed to the devotees who come for darshan. This sequence will continue until Shayan Aarti.
According to Dilip Guru, 25 quintals of gramme flour, 25 quintals of sugar, 20 quintals of pure ghee, 3 quintals of shew raisins, a and 50 kg of cardamom were used in making laddus.
