Updated: HC orders the CBI to investigate an illegal mining case in Sahibganj

Ranchi, 18 August (HS): The Jharkhand High Court, after hearing a PIL filed by ED’s witness, Vijay Hansda, has ordered the CBI to investigate illegal mining in Nimbu Pahar and other areas located in the Jirwabari police station area of Sahibganj. The hearing took place in the court of Justice Sanjay Kumar Dwivedi on Friday. Petitioner Vijay Hansda’s advocate, Sudhanshu Shekhar, argued before the court.
It has been said in the petition that when Vijay Hansda tried to stop illegal mining at Nimbu Pahar, he was threatened by the MLA representative of Chief Minister Hemant Soren. A petition was filed in the High Court to investigate both the cases of illegal mining and intimidation.
